I chose the images that I did because as I was looking through the images these ones caught my eye and made me think what I could do with them and where I could place them around the school to re-photograph them. Out of all of the images that I looked at, these ones in particular really got me thinking and questioning. For example I looked at the background of the images and thought where in the school I could place them so that they would blend in with their surroundings.
I took 3-4 per image of the pictures I chose in different surroundings. Here are how they came out...

I think that the pictures came out reasonably well but not as well as I was hoping because there weren't many things I could find that blended in with the background so that it seemed like the picture was part of the surrounding. Some of the problems that I encountered where the bricks weren't the same so where big and some where small meaning that the picture stood out and didn't blend in. Some of the images were quite hard as nothing was related to the subject. I think that if I was to do this again then for some images like the lamp and phone I couldn't find anything that was related to the subject (the lamp) so if I where to go and retake the pictures that I took of the lamp I would try and find a desk with a lamp that looked like the lamp in the picture and put them next to each other so they contrast in a way.
I think that my favourite image would be the picture of the house on the board with the polaroid images because it is a picture of a building with different buildings on separate images around it. I also like it because the pieces of fabric are white and so is the door and box so it sort of blends on. I also like the picture of the door and box that is infant of the Tallis character board as it is a picture of a box infant of a box that is the same shape which is quite interesting in my opinion.
The next part was to create a sculpture using the photographs that we chose and re photograph them thinking about different angles, distances and lighting. These are the ones that I chose.

WWW: I think that they all came out reasonably well and I used lots of different angles and for some I used the torch on my phone to add some lighting. For example the picture on the far right is probably my favourite as I feel that the glare that is made with my phone torch looks really good. I also like the one next to it as there is a long view just behind the subject.
EBI: I think that the natural light outside wasn't very good as it was quite dark and gloomy it effected the image making it dark and not very good. I also think that the design of my sculpture wasn't great for taking pictures as some of the images where lined up and making it hard to get a good angle so you can see all of the pictures that made up the sculpture.

The final part of the assessment was to put one of our images into photoshop and with a background image, combine them. This is how mine came out...
WWW: it looks like it is sort of meant to be there and is cut away from the background so the only green you can see from the table tennis table is at the top as it was too hard to get rid of completely.
EBI: I think that if I moved it to the left a bit so it is away from the tree it would look better as it would look more natural.
The next part of our assessment was analyse two images. This is what they looked like:

The next part of our assessment was analyse two images. This is what they looked like:
The first image by Robert Frank is sinister and interesting. It looks as if the images are of mirrors and the writing is on a mirror. In the top part of the image there is a reflection of an arm holding a skeleton and the background seems to be a sea. The bottom section is also a mirror with a second mirror propped up against it. The background seems to be a graveyard as you can see a headstone.
The second image by Lorenzo Vitturi is full of life and has a happy atmosphere around it. It seems to be split up into three sections. The first section, the bottom, looks as if it is on a white table. The second section is in the middle and has a blue background and the top has a red/orange background. 'Sick of Goodbyes' is a mix of genres including still life. 'Red' is a still life portrait image.
One of the similarities between the two images is that they both seem to be quite messy. In 'red' there seems to be things scattered around at the bottom of the image by the brick that the structure is stood on. In 'Sick of Goodbyes' the writing is dripping down the mirror giving it a messy effect. However although they have similarities, the two pictures have very different atmospheres. One is
quite sinister and depressing and the other is more happy as it uses warm colours.
In 'red' every object has an edge, it is not continuous. However, in 'Sick of Goodbyes' there are minimal edges. The sea background doesn't have an edge, it is continuously looking into the horizon. There are edges in the image, for example the mirror in the bottom section .
If I ever met the photographers that took these pictures I would ask Robert Frank why he chose to take the image at the angle he did and whether or not he used mirrors. I would ask Lorenzo Vitturi what the inspiration behind the image was.
If I was to rename the image I would rename 'Sick of Goodbyes', 'Reflect' because of the fact that it seems to use mirrors.
I would rename 'Red', 'Tower' because of the fact that it has been built to resemble the shape of a tower. I think that the choice of name was very good for both pictures though.
I think that if I was inside the images I would feel cold and compressed for the first one but happy and warm if I was in the second. I think that Robert Frank made the image he did because he saw the mirrors and the idea came into his head to write on them because it looks like the mirrors were something he stumbled across in a random alleyway.
I think that Lorenzo Vitturi made 'red' because he found the objects and began to pile them up and thought that he could make an interesting picture using them. I think that 'Sick of Goodbyes' is about being tired of saying goodbye to people that you care about. I think that 'Red' could be to do with variety within nature as there is a wide range of plants for example coconuts berries and leaves.
